2010 Chantus Music custom ukelele options and prices

Each year I build a few handmade ukuleles from the finest woods using techniques learned through years of experience as a luthier, with a focus on tone, playability and beauty. I apply the same level of attention to detail and quality of materials used in my classical guitars and other instruments to my ukuleles. All instruments are signed and dated on the builder's label.

I reserve the right to revise model availability, options, prices and terms and conditions without notice. The total cost of an instrument is the model base price plus the cost of any options you choose. Shipping is extra and charged at cost. Prices are quoted in US$. I ship USPS express mail service insured for full value. Title passes to the purchaser when your instrument is delivered to the shipper and any claims for damage or loss during shipping are the responsibility of the purchaser. Typical shipping costs vary from $45 (soprano/CONUS/no case) to $95 (tenor/EU or Japan/with hardshell case).

Standard features include standard or long scale ebony fingerboard, 3mm MOP fingerboard markers, 2mm MOP fingerboard side markers, ebony pin bridge, ebony faceplate, shell or marquetry banding style rosette, wood body bindings, fineline top purfling, PegHed™ or Gotoh geared tuners, gloss lacquer finish, Worth fluorocarbon strings, and a bone or ebony nut and saddle.

Ordering procedure

If you have any questions about options not listed or delivery schedules, please contact me using the info on my contact page. I require a 50% non-refundable deposit to book an order and the remaining 50% after the instrument is complete and before shipping. Please do not send a deposit for an order before contacting me to discuss your options and obtain an estimated delivery time. Current orders are being delivered within 4-6 months but this could change at any time. Some options are subject to availability and may be temporarily unavailable. Once your deposit is received, the price of your instrument is fixed and will not change. Orders should not be considered accepted until you receive an acknowledgement from me. I reserve the right to cancel your order and return your deposit at any time prior to delivery and for any reason.

Delivery schedule

An estimated delivery schedule will be provided upon request or after your deposit is received. Quoted schedules are approximate. Work is performed in the order received, subject to material availability.

Warrantee

I provide a non-transfereable guarantee to the original purchaser of freedom from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of one year. I will repair or replace, at my sole discretion, your instrument on a valid warrantee claim. Damage due to abuse or misuse is not covered by this guarantee. I build fine lightweight instruments for discriminating players and collectors and they must not be subject to extremes of temperature or humidity. My guarantee is void if the instrument has been modified by the owner or a third party. The cost of shipping and insurance to and from my workshop on a warrantee claim is the responsibility of the owner.

Return policy.

Instruments sold from stock come with a 48 hour approval privilege. If you don't like an instrument purchased from stock for any reason, return it to me within 48 hours of receipt, in original condition and insured for full value. When i receive it i'll refund your purchase price less my original shipping and insurance costs. Please make sure it is in original condition to avoid any refinishing charges.

If you order a custom instrument from me and don't like it for any reason, you can return it to me within 48 hours of receipt and I will attempt to resell the instrument as a stock instrument for you. I do not issue on demand refunds on custom instruments. Proceeds from the resale will be refunded when free and clear. The risk of resale is entirely yours. I can not guarantee that you will receive an amount from the sale equal to your purchase price. If you are unsure whether you will like a custom instrument i make for you, then consider buying an instrument from me from stock instead. Custom instruments with personalization or other unique features may not be easily resellable.
